On March 11, according to the WHO situation reports, there were 182 cases of COVID-19 in Austria and no deaths. The country shares a border with Italy, which at the time had already 10.149 cases and 631 deaths.
In preparedness, Austria decided to shut all national museums and suspend trains to Italy on the same day. Poland decided the same, closing all schools, museums and restaurants for two weeks, with 22 confirmed COVID-19 cases at the time.
