Agnes Martin: Life and Work

Life

Return to New Mexico

During her previous residence in the state she had alternated between Albuquerque and Taos, but this time she remained on the latter [...]. Martin's living conditions in Taos were rustic, even by local standards of the time. For a period, she shared her small house next door to the Harwood with the artists Kit and Ted Egri — it had neither heat (aside from a small wood stove) nor indoor plumbing (there was an outdoor privy).
